TRS Swivel pin leak!

I'm leaking water from both of my swivel pins at top of gimbal pin. There is no play and there are tight. It only started at the end of last season. I'm running full hydraulic external steering, no internal anymore.

Is there a seal there? Where do I get it?
I may end up just getting new swivel pins too. They are the U bolt style.

Thanks
Richard

Looks like your going to need parts 3, 4, 5, 6 in this diagram.

Hopefully you won't need the swivel pins. Their like $320 each. Part 12 in this diagram.

While it's apart you may as well replace the lower bearing and seals. Parts 2 (2) and part 3.

Be sure to use Merc manual #5 when doing this. The nut which tightens down on the swivel pin against the top of the steering lever lifts the gimble ring to set the up and down play.

Thanks Picklenjim! You've always been a ton of help!

Getting the upper pins out were a serious pain. Both the upper and lower pins made the bellhousing hinge pins seem like a day in the park. Again, lots of PB blaster and heat is what finally got mine out. Good luck, Randy

Actually, does anyone nhave merc manual #5? Or the precise instructions needed to tighten that nut?

I have the manual in both hard copy and PDF. PM me an email address and I will try to send it to you. It's 57MB which is too large to send regularly so I will have to send it through some type of compression program.

Caution there is a Mercruiser Highperformance Service Manual #5 for #Vl Dry Sump Stern Drives. This is NOT the one you want. You need Mercruiser Servise Manual #5 for TR/TRS Stern Drives.

a mercruiser specialist can help do this right, alots at stake if the boat takes on enough water and the bilge doesnt work right then insurance denies the claim.i deal with this everyday
