I believe my 454 carb mags used 160* coolant stats. You most likely need to add oil stats.

would putting in 180 * stats help any? Im thinking if i can raise my motor temps in turn I will raise my oil temps, both motors are running low temps, prob also in the 140 range and a lil lower ...

You might get 20* with that but your actual temps may be over 180f on the coolant side which is too hot for a boat. I'd try the 160 and go from there.

Is your oil milky and foamed up? Or do you just have oil/condensation on you oil caps or breather?

My old merc 420's would have condensation on the caps and breathers if I was in cold Lake Mi and did not run it hard for a while. When I had a head gasket going, then I had milky/water in the oil.

I'd change that oil before I did anything else, then check if thermostats are fitted. 140 should be enough to boil any water out of the oil, so I'd be very concerned about it's condition.

from my understanding you need oil temp to be more around 200 to 210 to boil out water , water in a pan does not boil untill 212 fh ...
