What are you "Riggers" using for bilge pump hose?
Everywhere I read I'm told use smooth bore hose for bilge pump discharge. What are the pros using and where can I buy it?
Also...what is the best quality bilge vent hose to use? I want to do this the right way and I'm looking for tips. |
I put a new pump and new hose in my 272. bought the hose from McMaster, part # 5113k41. $1.23 a foot and it is smooth inside, decently flexible and translucent so you can see if anything is in it or flowing. Of course, you can tell that by looking at the exit also....
I got a piece of black blower hose from Amazon, 3". Not impressed. But you need 4" anyways for yours. Brian |
Thanks Brian...that looks very close to what was OEM.

John I ran the white shields hose like in this link http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=50651 1 1/8" was what was in my boat originally so I just replaced it. It's flexible enough to bend corners and held up for 17 years, so I think it will do for you!
PM me or call if you want/need more info and help getting it. |

That's what a well rigged engine compartment should look like! Beautiful job by a perfectionist.

What size and how long of a piece are you looking for?
I bought a box of 1-1/8" and 3/4" when I was doing mine, it has a smooth inner wall and is corrugated on the outside. A little more flexible than the white sanitation hose. I think it is the Shields Bilgevac, I'll check the next time I go to the shop. I still have well over 40' of each, so let me know and maybe we can work something out. |
