I have seen Bob at Kinetis mentioned so many times I think I'm going to contact him myself come September/October. This is my first boat of my own so I am full of piss and vinegar as far as getting this thing tuned up and dialed in to be a head turner and a sleeper. All these young guns on LOTO with Soccer Mom and Plastic Surgeon Daddys Credit Card wouldn't know how to turn a wrench on the rig their abusing all weekend if their lives depended on it so I am really looking to wave Bubbye to a few of'em right after they snicker about my "Old Boat"..LOL. I love the looks of this thing, every inch of it is swept back, curved, or angled in some way and with the engine and outdrive combo, I have room for a lot more Horsepower. This seaon is all about Aesthetic/cosmetic improvements, this winter is for Performance Improvements. :-)

Lets see some pics of your Spectre! I knew a Sea Ray Pachanga Hull when I started shopping for my first Boat, love the lines, but after looking through all the Members pics, I am astounded at the subtle differences between manufacturers and what a Big Difference they Make in the Overall Appearance of the Boats in general!

what heads do you have on there now? 188?
for this build you will need stiffer head springs, new lifters., rockers, cam obviously, double timng chain new sprockets. manifold maybe. etc , possibly new inconel exhaust valves but i didnt do them. im guessing more like 2000, and keep a eye out for reversion with the new cam.I had to extend inner pipes in my sm exhaust. ps. bob isnt the fastest so give your self a 1 month head start. good luck

Thanks

Cam is crane 139761. The heads are straight from Dart- Assembled marine heads. Max rpm is 5400.

I am shopping around Springfield MO to track down a Marine Motor Shop with good credentials and proven success upgrading Big Blocks but I have to admit, I'm not having much luck. Everyone around here has Flat Bottom Fever or they like the Outboards. Any of you guys have any luck with any of the Advertisers on here? Atco has some motors that are balanced and blueprinted for pretty fair prices and they seem to be in the Horse range I'm looking. 550 to 600 would be great. I am looking to spin about 5200-5500 and run a 25/26 and get up into the mid to upper 70's without being last off the line. It just seems like it would be easier to drop in a motor than take this old 454 mag apart??
