I have a project motor and I need to know where in the Chicagoland area I can take my short block for reliable machine work. I can tear down and assemble as I am a gm mechanic. Any input on this let me know. I prefer someone who is familiar with marine motors not just car stuff.

There is ATECO up north, I haven't used them.... other than that, the next closest marine machinist I know of is out of state. Tyler Crocket etc.. If you are going to be doing you own assembly any good machine shop can do the work for you. You are going to be setting the clearances you want so, get them to machine it to your specs. Just a thought.

I use R&R Motorsports in Benton, IL with great results. Have used him for 15 years. He is from Chicago, but is now located in southern IL.
