Engine rebuild....in TX?
 

Looking to rebuild a Hawk engine (540), the engine is in TX, anybody can recommend a qualified trustworthy and economic mechanic...or DIY person..who could carry out the rebuild?

Yea I'd say full throttle or.... I used kotzur racing in SA

I had mine done at Nickens Bros Racing in Conroe.

Heard good things about Owen in Pearland

Also have friends say good things about Full Throttle. Have one friend that had oil coming out of exhaust. Took there and they said motor needed to be rebuilt. He took boat away from them. Turned out to be bad oil filter. Motor still running strong 2 years later.

I have used Custom Engines by Jeff with good results.

I'll throw another vote in for Bob at Full Throttle Marine. Towed my boat 600 miles each way to Spicewood. Bob knows his stuff.

I heard his carb'd 540 makes more power than a blower motor, was it leaf blower :lolhit:

By far Reher Morrison in Arlington and I use Dennis Wells in Duncanville. Both are expensive but you get what U pay for. Marine shops send all their machine work out to whom they trust on the engine machining work anyways.
