Sounds like You put a new motor with old parts. Flywheel ect. Your boat is a 89 ? Check what gen# Your new eng is. Artie

ok i c that your boat is a 89..is that da rite engine that waas oe in the boat..if that was the oe engine and the brand new heads were 502 then som thing aint rite with the mark~ and gen v or 6 heads..

In other words you cant use a Generation v or Generation IV cylinder heads on a mark block..you will have a extra hole.......

Dumb question, but you are using a EXT balancer damper and flywheel, providing the engine is Externally balanced?? OR vice versa.

The motor block is a gen 6, I read threads all last night and went
To engine builder asking is crank is Internally or
Externally balanced he seemed surprised and as if he wasn't sure, he did tell me he will take boat and do all the work at no charge... He said if he has to take out crank
And bring to a balance shop.. He can't even tell me what strocker crank
Is in it except that it's steel..... I've read that u need a neautral flywheel w most strocker cranks as well as neutral dampners...

Most are internal balance, except if its a cast stroker crank.

Ok well at least we got a starting point...appreciate it

what you would need is a 427 harmonic ballancer and flywheel for the balancing of a stroker engine..stroker forged crankshafts have to be internally balanced..

BTW find another engine builder because they all know what i posted..

MILD THUNDER 10-16-2012 10:45 PM

What balancer and flywheel were u using? Stock GM/Merc ones? That right there could be your issue.

+1. If this is the guy who been ''building engines for 20 years'', I'd run away if in 20 years he hasn't figured out the balance stuff yet. If that minor stuff is overlooked, you wonder what else was overlooked inside the engine/build.

Oh no....:eekdrop:

And btw, how much time do you have on the unbalanced engine? Doesn't take long to cause serious bearing wear. I made this mistake years ago bolting a gen v bravo flywheel to convert an old school trs big power engine to my application. Took out the crank bearings first run.
