454 330 swap for ls1 with pro charger
I have a 1991 predator viper 24ft 4000lbs it had a 454 330 that was tired and had now power. I'm looking to build a new motor and I'm thinking about an ls1. What are people's thoughts.
Ls1 with pro charger and zo6 cam 540 hp is what I thinking about building. I think it would be cool to have in my boat over a bbc I could build one but lots more money that I don't want to spend on the boat. |
Good idea if you already have the wiring to make it a "stand alone" engine. If not get out your wallet! I just sold a 2006 LS1 in a box needed rebuilt w/ full wiring harness for $2800.
Stick with a carb 350 block so many parts so cheap! Just a thought  |
Yea the wiring is not a problem at all we have very thing we need to do it besides the coupler and exhaust
|
how much for the 454 ?
|
Not sure how much I rebuilding it then ill sell it between 1500 and 2000 depending on how much I put Into it
|
A lot cheaper and easier to rebuild the 454 . The LS1 won't work worth a sh!t in a boat with out some major mod's :eekdrop:
|
Why won't it work if I do it right and it will be cheaper to do the ls1 to get that kind of hp out of it
The 454 all I could use is the block and have to get all new internals and everything I could get a good runnin ls1 and the cam and pro charger for less than 4k |
4 K plus the exhuast plus a fuel system to work with the pro charger plus computer mod's plus a cam . You can make a 500 HP big block a lot easier and cheaper . Just my .02:party-smiley-004:

I have to buy exhaust either way I go and I would only have 4000 in the motor and exhaust the only thin after that would just be the little stuff that I would be missing
