How well did the formula one fit do you have pics? Thanks matt |
They fit perfectly. I have kiekaffer controls. Just pop the plastic caps off, drill a small hole for the wires to exit the knob and tie wrap them to the handle, screw the new switch on and wire the 3 wires to your existing trim switch in parallel. Done

Hey Guys,
I know this thread is way old, but I think I just got one of these switches from Great Lakes Skipper that you are talking about. It looks like it's an easy add on, but it seems a bit flimsy with the small diameter installation screws and thin gauge wire. Is this the switch you guys are talking about and is it still working good for you? |
Yup that's the one .. No issues at all had them on my boats for 8 years
No issues at all |
Great... Thanks, Smokin Gun

Hoping someone who has installed this can help me out.
I finally got around to installing the formula switch on my boat. I split off green and blue wires so that one each goes to the Starboard and Port drive trim switches and the red going to a single power. The throttle switch works great and I love it. The problem is, the original switches will not work independently of each other - they're now tied directly in to each other. Am I going to need relays or is there an easier way to do it? |
No relays needed but there are diodes that need to be installed.
Had to go way back In the archives for this one. Circa 02 http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...le-levers.html |
Diodes only needed in twin or trip app

He just added his question onto this ancient post. I forgot To copy his post on reply. He is in a formula 311, |
As I stated yrs ago, you need the diodes when you are controlling 2 items, whether it be drives or tabs, if you want to retain the ability to operate them independently using the dash switches.
|
Thanks guys. Will install them and let you know how I make out.

Installed diodes... Works perfectly.
Thanks guys!!! |
