Best place to buy rigging supplys

Where is the best place to buy this stuff? I need bilge pumps, cushion clamps, was thinking of putting in pop up bow and rear nav light.

Blower hoses, tab and trim cables, stuff like that.

Don't want cheap junk but don't want to pay top dollar either.

Thanks.

I used to get a lot from boatfix.com but the website has been down for awhile so I think they closed up shop. Good luck finding cushion clamps reasonably priced.

Jamestown Distributors isn't too bad on prices, and they have a lot of quality stuff. Other than that try greatlakesskipper on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/Great-Lakes-S...p2047675.l2563

Cheapest place I found for cushion clamps was at http://www.mcmaster.com/#cushion-clamps/=m8q78a

Cool thanks,

I was thinking of putting a oil change system in so I can pull oil from the pan. Anybody have experience with those?

ebay was cheapest - $22.95ea plus shipping. Cables also on ebay just outfitted my 38 special with TFX extremes for around $550 total.

I have them on my engines and they make changing oil easy.

What brand do you have griff?

soldier4402 04-19-2013 01:57 PM

try wholesale marine, they carry a lot of good stuff. Ebay and amazon arent bad either once you know the part number. Often times I look through a parts finder, find what I need and then put the part number in ebay or amazon and find the same thing much cheaper.

Theres always BAM marine which I have used, but dont like to as they charges are rediculous for shipping, thing I paid 13 bucks once for a few screws and washers to get shipped. Also they are not customer service orientated, even states on their website that dont call asking what numbers or anything, pretty much need to know what you want before you go to them. But I do enjoy their free parts finder that I can use.

defender marine in conn

We carry a number of these items if you don't find what you need give us a shout. We also have a brand new 2013 300plus page catalog that might come in handy for you.

They're not alone...Monster Marine just charged me almost $14 to ship two 2 inch water pressure gauges!

Yeah I know a lot of people do it, they are making money on shipping. But it irritates me when they charge you 15 bucks and shipping label says 5 bucks. Specially makes me mad when they can get flat rate shipping for a few bucks.

Wildman_grafix 04-22-2013 06:50 AM

Its pretty standard to upcharge for shipping, just like expenses no one bills without a charge.

But to charge you $15 for a $5 dollar ship is nuts.

Thanks for the leads, hopefully this coming weekend I'll get time to start looking and ordering some parts. May even get the boat done by November.:lolhit:

yeah i understand business, if you charge a few extra bucks to ship fine. But a couple bolts that could have gone in an envelope with a stamp and you charge 15 bucks, ehh get out of here.

Guys, let me speak up about shipping. I think most of us in this industry are in the same position.

In general the US postal service is not an option. If we just throw the parts in an envelope and send regular mail there is no tracking, no insurance and no proof of delivery.
So after we tried that a few times and had to replace “Lost” shipments at our expense we decided no more parts in envelopes sent regular mail.
Priority mail is a step up, but after you add insurance it is not that cheap, about $8.25 to ship 1 pound.
Why we don’t use Priority Mail:
• If they do lose it collecting on the insurance is a full time job
• Tracking is limited
• We have to process the shipment manually
• Our postman picks up at noon, so it is really hard to get stuff shipped the same day
Express mail costs more than UPS.

So we ship via UPS – and yes we do add a handling charge to small orders. If you go to the UPS web site you will see that the cheapest rate is in the $10-15 range for a residential delivery. For example 1 pound from here to Chicago is $13.19. There is no such thing as a $5 shipping cost with UPS.
We don’t love UPS but in general they do a good job.
Why we use UPS
• Our web site can do a pretty good job of calculating the shipping costs
• We ship a lot of packages - our UPS shipping is integrated with our order system so it is automatic at this end
• Even though it is a pain we can actually collect from UPS if they lose or damage something
• Our daily pickup is at the end of the day – so we can get stuff out the same day

I wish there was a better, less expensive way to ship, I am open to suggestions.

F-2 Speedy 04-22-2013 09:05 AM

you gave us all the reasons for charging us more for shipping, but no incentive to buy from you. I mean 13.50 for an O-ring for a 500 EFI plenum 25-805732

Mbam 04-22-2013 09:17 AM

Is $13.50 a lot for an O ring? Yes it sure sounds like it.

But we don't make the parts or set the prices. Everything we sell on our site is genuine Mercury and that is what they charge for it.

The incentive to buy from us is that if you order it today, it will ship today - we have them on the shelf.

And if you have a technical question we can answer it.

Velocity Vector 04-22-2013 09:30 AM

[QUOTE=Mbam; And if you have a technical question we can answer it.[/QUOTE]

What size eaton/char-Lynn helm is needed for twin #6 drives? I've looked everywhere and can't find anything. I need one but can't seem to get a straight answer on what part number to order the correct one. Thanks VV

How many turns do you want lock to lock?

160 CC's will give you 3 turns

CP charges a restocking fee.. :hothead:
I have some stuff that wasn`t what I expected and with return shipping and their restocking fee I might as well just stick it up my ass... no lube. An internet based store that charges you if its not as expected.... cause we can all tell from a picture on the web if thats EXACTLY what we need right?
They didn`t even bother to reply when I asked twice for RMA Number.
So we boaters all get jacked cause well we`re boaters and we must be able to afford it
