Trim Sender
Every 3-4 years I have to replace the trim sender puck on my outdrive. The drive is lubricated every year. I've never had to replace the trim limit puck. The drive is 26 yrs old. It needs to be done again. I have a drawer full of limit pucks since you have to buy both. Is this normal? The boat is only used in fresh water maybe 10-12 times a year.
Thanks, Dave |

What happens that leads you to believe it needs to be replaced?

The fact you say you have left over limit switches leads me to believe you may have spliced the new senders in .When you pull the two wires back through the plates to replace one why wouldn't you do them both .The two wires have a rubber plug that is only formed when you put them together .Surely you haven't been plugging that hole with one old one and one new one .That being said .Moisture will follow the wire through and insufficiently sealed splice and ruin the sender

I know when the switch is bad because the gauge acts erratically. When I take the switch apart the wound wire inside (reostat) is broken.
