Default i might seem stupid

Was wondering I have a 1996 Baja performance cuddy 25th anniversary 26 foot with a 300 horse 7.4 litre was thinking of taking of the spread bore carb and going to a holly 750 smooth bore with a 1 inch spacer over the intake thinking it would deliver fuel more even to cylinders and make more power is that right? its running rich now

I would swap the intake out for an Edlebrock Performer RPM Air Gap. Check out Quick Fuel as another option for the carb..

the 454/300 has peanut port heads and cast internals. It simply can't make a lot more power (without something breaking). Your thinking should help but don't expect more than 1-2 mph tops.

That might give you 10-20 more HP but you will never see the difference in a boat. In a car you might get 1/10 of a second in the 1/4 mile. If you want more speed do as stlliberator says and start with another engine.

Might not do anything for you power wise, and probably worse MPG.

I would have to say that putting the spacer on would hurt the performance of the engine. Your basically increasing the plenum area of the intake which in return will raise the rpm band of the motor. And with the smaller cubic inch heads and cam I think it will hurt performance.

if you just want to replace the carb, just go with a 750 edelbrock w/elec choke, will work fine on your stock setup and the elec choke is a big plus...

The stock 7.4L's run good with Performer Air Gaps and 4150 Holley's. Got a buddy with a '97 290 PQ with this setup and he runs about 1.5 - 2 MPH faster than most 290's with stock 7.4L's.

thanks for the info Guys! It works fine but runs a little rich but rich is better then lean. But a little slow on speed only 55 mph best ever was like 58 with a 2 foot chop . I was a auto tech for 25 years but never really delt with boats so I did not know if would make much of a difference or not.
