Had a friend do the same thing when mounting a ice chess holder. He screwed the boat to the trailer and couldn't figure out why the boat wouldn't come loose from the trailer. Funniest thing I ever saw on the water. Oh, it gets better he keep going back with his truck trying to float the boat, well the boat lifted the rear of the truck, there was a strong wind and the boat pulled the truck into the water. Can you say expensive boat launch.

You are really off target, but its easy to understand why as this is new top secret technology. What your looking at is a prototype of the new Schwatzcraft race boat. While those look like screws they are actually hydro dynamically tested in a computer simulation program run by NASA employees during the incredibly productive 3 martini lunch phase. Their purpose is to 'rip' the surface tension of the water while micro pores inject air into the stream. the resulting benefit is 7x's the effectiveness at reducing drag as a similar multi stepped boat. All this WITHOUT the inherent instability of the spin factor linked to the stepped hull design. Using BAM's speed calculator modified for a drag coefficient of pi x the square root of infinity to the 3rd power, a projected top speed of 364.9876 MPH on stock Messerschmitt power is achieved. I could explain in further detail but the corporate chef has announced that the rack of prime rib prepared in a scallion, boones farm marinade is ready for lunch.

I hope he got a good deal.

Come on man..........you said you wouldnt tell anybody! How was I supposed to know 3" screws would go through the bottom of my boat?

TWIN-SPINS 08-03-2013 03:43 PM

run it over some rocks,,should smooth right out

speicher lane 08-03-2013 06:55 PM

Holly $hit that is unreal! Well those pics should save someone some money as a FYI - deck screws will not hold a homemade hull step in place...

Fenderjack 08-03-2013 07:30 PM

Unreal. I knew a guy that put a stereo system in his boat, screwed the amp to the side of the boat, the screws went right out the side of the boat :SMH

The previous owner of my boat did that with 2 screws right through the bottom when he installed a bilge pump. I have repaired the 2 holes.

jeff32 08-03-2013 08:10 PM

I had a friend that was cutting his floor with a sawsall to change it in a Arriva 20 footer...

I let you guess what happened!!!

tcwcar 08-03-2013 08:15 PM

I really would love too see the guys face when he spotted it:poopoo: I bet he was in the boat all proud of the job on the interior, got out and spotted that and just about sh*t a brick.....got to luv stupid...LoL

1fastlx 08-03-2013 09:01 PM

I bought a 1979 taylor jetboat with a new floor and fresh interior years ago. Couldnt launch it from the trailer. It had probably 25-30 screws into the bunks on the trailer. Had to strip it and flip it, fix the bottom replace the pressure treated plywood floor! Expensive lesson for me.

You have to wonder what the guy was thinking. Anybody knows you have to use stainless screws on a boat.

Thats down right funny right there!

zz28zz 08-03-2013 11:44 PM

You guys are jumping to conclusions.. This is known as "work in progress"..He's merely locating the mounting holes. In phase 2 he'll remove all the screws, re-install them from the bottom, spray a bit of touch-up paint,,,and,, tadaaa!!!

I wonder if you looked on the inside you would find some cement board with tile over it? Could be an Italian boat.

Cash Bar 08-04-2013 12:34 PM

It's called maximum retention. Now he just has to grind down the screws and gel over them, thereby using every millimeter of holding power.

speicher lane 08-04-2013 02:24 PM

Who would use 3/4" screws in a Bayliner????

Ebay Ed 08-04-2013 09:50 PM

do you think he got it in the water like that or was it stuck to the trailer

08 fastech 292 08-05-2013 05:51 AM

Imagine splaining that to your wife!

RUN!

Katanna 08-05-2013 06:23 AM

The good thing is, if you were taking on water you could remove some screws to let it out.

Donzinator 08-05-2013 11:04 AM

I think I know this guy......Had to have been the same one that showed up to do some wood work (on a cruiser I used to own) with a spirit level! No, I'm not kidding......sent him packing.

the deep 08-05-2013 11:13 AM

The azzhat forgot to bend them over with a hammer.....some people .

JWoolever 08-05-2013 11:35 AM

That might be a new trick that causes aeration under the hull for more speed?:eureka:

ICDEDPPL 08-06-2013 12:04 AM

No pilot holes?? HACK!

Randy Nielsen 08-06-2013 12:39 AM

I thought these were some spy photos of the new 2014 "Corporate Fountain" with the new cement stringer system for a safer more stable "Race Style" ride borrowed directly from the fastest fishing trawler they could find while doing multi hundred dollar research using secret 'Craigs list" identities so as not to reveal their secret. Lol. Randy

lastcall02 08-06-2013 06:05 AM

A little 5200 and she's as good as new.

Black Baja 08-06-2013 12:04 PM

Should have used a wood backer so it pinched to the hull and the screws wouldn't be exposed to the water.

Fenderjack 08-06-2013 12:04 PM

He is rigging for jelly fish trolling!!!

low_psi 08-09-2013 04:58 PM

Guy at the boat store up the road from me was telling me about a guy who had a smaller boat and installed new floor in it. (I think it was a flatbottom aluminum boat). ANyway the guy used too long of screws and went through tthe boat into the trailer bunks. WHen he went to launch his boat it wouldn't come off the trailer. He pulled it back out to make sure he didn't forget a strap. Put it back in and still couldn't get it off the trailer. So he left the local launch (which is behind this boat store) and went in to have the guys at the store ook at the boat to help him figure out why the boat wouldn't come off the trailer. It was only then he realized he had essentially bolted his boat hull to the trailer bunks. I swear to this day I thought the story was BS, but after seeing these pics, I believe the story may have been true. WTF is wrong with people??

I did make a similar mistake a few years ago... I pulled some panels out of the cabin of our Velocity to recover them with white vinyl. Well I take a decent amount of pain meds daily (chronic back pain, multiple surgeries, yada, yada, yada) anyway I was putting the panels back in and didn't realize there were three different lenght screws (depending n where the hole was). ANyway, I just randomly grabbed the screws and put them back in. Well on one of them I noticed a bit of resistance but figured maybe I had not lined the hole upperfect, but since they were being screwed into wood pieces glassed into the side, no big deal. The panes went back in without issue and all was good. Well the next day I decided to give the boat a bath. Well I was hand washing it and all of a sudden, right behind my registration numbers, something hooked my hand and tore me open.. Blood everywhere. Guess what it was??? The end of a screw was poking throgh enoght to have gotten my hand. Leason learned.... Anyway, the smal damage I created was just below the rub rail, well above the waterline so I continued to use the boat until the end of season (of course I put a small dab of sealant in the hole). I had my fiberglass guy fix it up and to this day I cannot find the exact spot, but boy did I feel stupid. THe whole season if someone noticed that spot (before it was fixed) I old them some dumb-ass ran into the boat.........
