Ignition issue??
I was out this past weekend and found that one engine started to cut out when the throttles are down. I can cruise at different rpm's 3000, 4000 and don't have any issues. Engine starts and idles fine. One time the engine started to cut out and then totally shut off. I raised the hatch didn't see or smell anything so I tried to restart and it fired back up no problem. I have HEI dist. the cap, rotor and coils are one year old. I did ohm out the module when I replaced the other components and it checked out fine Is it possible that the module could be going bad under heavy load ? I did check all of the engine grounds and everything seemed fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

how old are the plug wires, they can go bad with time.

Two years old

you can check the resistance with your ohm meter.

Thanks, I will check that tonight.

Don't forget the pickup coils. They can go bad too. I had one years ago in a car start going bad. It'd start breaking the ignition up, and eventually left me stranded with a no start.

How about the fuel pump?
|
Everything in the ignition system has checked out fine. The fuel pumps are two years old. I'm going to install a mechanical fuel pressure gauge and take it out to see what happens. I did remove the fuel filter/water sep. and dump it in a glass jar and found alot of crap in there. I just installed these, they probably have three hours of run time on them. I'm going to valve off that tank and run off the port tank, install new filter and mechanical gauge and see what happens. I didn't notice the fuel pressure when I was out and engine was cutting out, could have been loosing fuel pressure and didn't know it. Could possibly have a partially clogged screen on the fuel pick up in the tank. Thanks for everyones input.
