"self winterizing" my mercruiser 454 bravo 1

Its been awhile but I am back in the "game".... I just bought a 89 power play spectra 222 mercruiser 454 bravo 1, its the time of year here in northern Illinois to winterize it .... I am hoping to do winterize the boat myself and was hoping someone could give me advice in what to "watch for " and maybe a few of the basic steps, I have seen the gravity feed anti freeze deals for the motor which is the route I was thinking about for the motor, I will also fog it and add a fuel stableizer what about the drive, all my smaller boats none bravo 1 we use to just drain the gear case oil and refill with fresh to insure their was no water, whats the process with the bravo? and any other tips or steps I am missing to insure a GOOD winterize job?
thanks in advance
steve

wow thanks for the link missbehavin great info.. I understand all of it EXCEPT how do you change the gear case oil I don't recall seeing a drain plug on the bottom of the gear case?

Drain plug is behind your prop

Yes bottom drain plug is behind prop. To change gear lube, remove cap from reservoir, remove prop, and remove bottom drain plug, let drain, remove top case plug, pump gear lube from bottom drain till the lube comes out of top vent, plug top vent, continue to pump lube till proper level in reservoir. It's that easy.

after doing the antifreeze thing, pull the big hoses off bottom of exhausts and let them drain empty.
