Piston Advice

What would you guys recomend for pistons for a stock bottom end 454 Mag rebuild ? I've got my eye on Speed Pro Powerforged or Probe forged pistons. I'm going to run stock rectangular port heads with some (nothing too extravagant) valve train upgrades. I would like to keep the compression low enough to run 89 octane because its readily available on the water where I like to ride. Part #'s, personal preference, good, bad, or ugly, all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most guys are using JE pistons. That's what was stock in my 500efi and that's what I'm replacing them with. They are great pistons

I certainly do like JE products, the only drawback for me is the price of them for a basically stock build.

The JE pistons are the stock pistons in a Mag or HP, at least in the 502's. I would assume its the same deal for the 454 mags.

Can't go wrong with JE / SRP. For what little more they cost than other choices, it seems foolish to not buy them for your build

I'm running a set of forged custom Diamonds that weren't too bad on price.

Well maybe I have been looking/pricing the wrong model of piston from them. Do y'all have any general sugestions on model #, dome size etc. ?

the nicer the nice the higher the price....je/srp isone of the only pistons used in a marine engine....also check out ractech..use to be the owner of je srp piston...when he sold he had a mfr clause that he could not make/sell pistons for a few years....http://racetecpistons.com/

X2 nice piston. I would use almost anything but a speed pro...
