Dry Joint Manifold Riser Conversion

Is it possible to convert to dry joint from old style wet joint risers/manifolds on a 1998 mercruiser 5.0. If so what parts are needed?

98 might be ready for a new set. 16 yrs is a long time on a set if merc manifolds. Just buy the dry joint.

I think that's what he means. what is needed besides manifolds and risers? I don't think dry joint stuff will even bolt on to wet joint stuff.

Cost twice as much .Do yourself a favor and forget the aggravation and just put new of the same back on .It'll last a few years

To be clear, I am replacing manifolds and risers. looks lije just a few hoses to go to dry joint. anyone ever done this?

Think it's just manifold and risers with a jumper between them.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I have the stainless cast risers from Merc, and they have a nipple on the front side of them for a jumper hose... Looks like you could run 'em either way, as the still have the 4 slots at the mating surface. For the dry joint, I believe you need a stainless plate with only the exhaust opening, and then double up the gaskets to either side.

I bought those from an OSO member as a package with the 6.2 heads, I'm building a 383 and ended up having to use aftermarket exhaust. Marine Kinetics cam wouldn't work with them. Hoping to get it assembled and get working on the boat soon.
