you can't use that straight... need to plumb in a cooler with that setup.. I personally haven't used that one tho

Can you explain the cooler.. There is already a cooler in line on the stock setup this just re routes the oil that is already being cooled.

I notice the kit is for 305 and 350 engines. Are you sure the cooler you have is not for the power steering. The small blocks I had in the past never had an oil cooler. I changed mine to a setup like you hae posted to change the filter. Never did run a oil cooler until I stepped up to big blocks and got smarter. Again that was 30 years ago:D

Well Jim I dont knnow what type of cooler it has.. Good Question. Will just putting on a remote oil filter setup necessitate a cooler? It is a 305

The remote oil kit does not necessitate an oil cooler.

Starting the motor, and running it does. You should have coolers on everything in the bilge that uses oil....

Power steering, engine and drive. By keeping oil cool, hard parts live longer.

Follow the lines, I bet both lead to the power steering pump. Mercrusier never put an ENGINE oil cooler on the 305 and V6s and inline engines. Adding the remote filter just makes it easier to change the filter with out filling the bilge with oil. M2C
