IAC valve

Alarms went off on both engines for the iac valves. Is this a DIY job or is there a computer involved. Seemed strange both went bad on the same trip about a day a part. Ground issues maybe?
2007 382 fastech with the 600's. +/- 180 hrs.
Any thoughts?

It's only 2 bolts and a plug, easily replaced, no scanner needed. I carry a spare now cause my first experience with an IAC fault I was told it was ok to cruise back about 30 miles back to the boat ramp by a mechanic so I did. When it came time to replace the IAC I still got the fault so after getting another mechanic involved we found it took out the ECM. Hope you did run it to long on the bad IAC's.

Yes easy to do I too carry spares now. I am on my third set now to on 2004 6.2s. I came back about 50 miles with the alarm going off and nothing else was hurt. Cross reference them at the auto parts store they are way cheaper there. I dont know it yours are the same but for a 2004 6.2 mercruiser the iac is the same as for a 2003 lincoln LS 3.0

Buy from www.rockauto.com and save yourself a lot of money over Mercury pricing. Plenty of threads with details.
