Wow. Its really something to experience the goodwill on this board, everyone with their advice but particularly from John M. I'm somewhat capable with building and figuring things out but was never hands on with mechanical matters, and therefore very grateful to benefit from the advice and experience here. Even if I'm just tinkering with minor issues like rebuilding the water pump, I'm learning a lot which will hopefully help me to keep this boat on the water. I know my dad would be happy that i'm keeping it going... aside from driving it his favorite pastime was working on the boat. I'm starting to feel the same way. Just ordered a gelcoat repair kit and will start experimenting with ding repair this weekend... unless its warm, then i'll be out on the water
Thanks again everybody and especially to John.

Thats great John.
Im sure i can do it myself now, hopefully can just find a press closer to home this time (my buddy's show is an hour and a half away).
Do you recommend that i throw out the new bearings and seals when i press out the axle from the damaged body?
