Hydraulic steering question

1 Attachment(s)
Looking for real life experience with an ungrade to full hydraulic steering from an original Mercury hydraulic steering with cable actuation.

Has anyone put a power assisted Charlynn Helm on these merc cylinders (see pic below)

I know people have used the non power assisted Capilano 1275V with success

But looking for options using the Charlynn type helm pump.

If so what are the part numbers you used

Thanks
Mark

I did a similar conversion but had an Imco cylinder with a cable helm. I bought the internal conversion kit from Paul at Everett Performance. He sold me everything I needed including the mandrel to install the fittings myself. No slop in the steering and the effort is much less, really nice when docking and cruising down the river. It made the biggest difference when running above 75 on the pad as steering has to be really tight.

I did the inside upgrade from CP a hardin marine with that helm unit, had issues with the lines, they took care of me and ended up having all the lines done locally with press fit ends, no issues...
