Supercharger Idle Solenoid
Anyone have any part numbers information on how Sterling or other builders are incorporating Idle solenoids to increase the pump shot to help with stalling issue around the docks? Figured Id ask here before I spent the day researching what someone else has already. Did a search but didn't find a lot on here. TNX

Must be a trade secret...

Thanks I never remembered the 900sc using them either, good info! I can find numerous different solenoids to make work, Im guessing they were activated (electrically energized) by a micro switch (like neutral safety switch) at the controls maybe?

I think holley made a switch like that. I know in the old days, cars had a solenoid like that. When the ac was turned on, it raised the throttle a tad to keep idle up , with the load from the compressor being on. They were mounted on the carb with a bracket

Used to keep engines from run on or dieseling [ a ford carb thing ] turn key off and closes throttle blade .

I remember the ones used for A/C, I think the trick now or what I need to figure out is the best way to energize the solenoid at the correct time. The last thing I need is for the solenoid to kick up the idle right before it goes into gear. LOL

Assuming this is a carb'd SC'd engine ?
I believe MER Performnce and some other OSO'rs are using/just starting to use the Daytona Sensor's Programmable Ignition Box that has an Idle Stabilization feature, amongst a bunch of other things. Here is the instructions for it - Idle Stabilization Page 16. http://www.daytona-sensors.com/downl...structions.pdf |
what happens alot is that one tends to crank the idle up too much on the primary which uncovers the idle fuel transfer slot thus leaning idle mixture out... need to balance primary and secondary blade openings then drill out or increase orifice size (change air bleed jet) of upper air bleeds to increase air intake... big improvement should result

running a locked dist or just more initial timing helps a bunch with idle
