Fabricated some wind deflectors for the Checkmate Convincor. The version pictured are 3" tall. I have another set that is 4 3/4" tall. What do you guys think? I actually think they look pretty good on the boat. |
I think you will see very little wind difference with them at the angle they are at. They need to be more vertical to make a difference.
|
If you can run wide open with a hat on bill facing forward, they'll pass... No bugs to the face at night is another good benchmark.

I need to figure out a nice way to make them for my wind screen. You thought your windshield was useless....ha! My problem is I can't find a mount/hinge that will work because the way the backside of the fairing is angled. I wanted them to fold down below the fairing so my cover will still fit. Thinking now I may just have to bite the bullet and mount them to the top and have pockets sewn in my cover to fit.

Jet Boat wind deflector

One of my concerns is how much force is transferred to the winshield frame at 80+ mph with a big chunk of plastic sticking way up there |

How did you make them? The mounting points are 1/4-20 ss nuts welded onto a 1" x 2" x 1/8" piece of ss flat stock. I then affixed them to the windshield with VHB "Very High Bond" tape. |
I need to do something like that on mine. Fountain used to make the clear wind deflectors for my fairing, not sure if still avail from them. I know that Mike Tkach has it on his 38 fever , and its amazing. Running 80mph in his boat you can almost wear a ball cap, my boat at 80mph, its flat out ridiculous wind. Running at night on lake michigan can be a killer with the bugs too. :frog:
