bilge pump question
Im working on resolving some oddness in the way the bilge pumps and 3-way switches are wired. The port pump currently only functions if the port cabin power switch(the one on the panel in the cabin) is on, and its easy to turn that off without thinking about the bilge pump.
This is some error in the wiring and not he way it came from the factory, right? In auxiliary mode they dont function if the battery switches are off. Wouldnt it be better if they were hard wired to always be on regardless of battery switch position? I can imagine that if leave your boat overnight in the water you'd want to turn off the batteries but keep the bilge pumps on. Or is this a situation where you turn one to "all" and leave the other one off? Thanks |
bilge pumps are usually direct, not going from battery switch.my sea ray and my fountain are that way.

I have two pumps. Portside and starboard. On one I do not have a float and is wired to two way switch on dash just to run manually if I want. On the other I have a float and the float has two wires one of which is wired directly to battery and the other wire ties in with the + wire from the pump and is wired to switch on dash. I'm pretty certain this is the way I did it.
