Engine was estimated to make 600hp and actually made a few more with very conservative timing and pump gas. Special thanks go out out to Bob Madera, Mark Rinda, Alex Haxby and several members here. Enjoy!

what comp ratio and rough specs on cam,,,motor seems weak for dyno headers and no accessories driven,,just saying.

chrisf695 08-01-2015 10:36 AM

Cam specs Lift: int 654 Exh 645
Duration: int 237 exh 245.6
LSA: 112

Compression is 10:1

Will be running eickert headers so the numbers are pretty good. Heads are small port higher velocity type.

i disagree.pretty good numbers for under 500 inches and 32 deg total lead.

Sounds like a nice little motor. Why so much oil pressure?

Borgies engine comes to life !

1.2HP per ci is pretty modest these days. Be like a 540ci making 648HP, and a 598 making 717hp. The basic 598 10:1 marine deal today is making 750HP.

Did they try giving it the timing the engine actually wants, or just set it at 32 because everyone seems to think thats a "safe zone'' for a bbc marine engine . I am certainly not an EFI expert, but couldn't it be tuned to eliminate the scenerio of one cylinder having an AFR of 13.7 and another having 11.2? I always thought that was one of the benefits of port injection with the holley efi system?

All those fancy expensive parts to make 600hp? big whop. I thought Borgie being so much smarter than anyone on the planet would have done better.

Looks like lot of nice parts and hp goal was exceeded, now hopefully he can run it hard for many hours. :ernaehrung004:
What oil is he running? :party-smiley-004:

I don't know of too many gauges that will even go that high. What were the clearances and what weight oil? I would be a little worried about bursting the filter can.

Good to see it together and running. Hopefully it will be a dependable and trouble free mill.

Whatever happened to Borgie?

I believe he was banned, I was going to look at his rebuild thread and it was no where to be found. He has been erased it seems.
