external hydrualic steering
just put lathum used system on my boat.
what fluid to use??? standard power sterring fluid???? any tricks to bleeeding new system??? flash ...out |
you can run type f trany fluid if you want, I remove the belt and spin the pump with a cordless drill while someone turns the wheel lock to lock till all the air is out
|
hmmm...ok...thanks
wasnt sure... and yea i was trying to figure out how i could use air drill to spin pulley/pump... |
I've always just started the boat and turned the wheel lock to lock while checking the fluid and answering as needed.
|
you can do it without the boat running. The pump/reservoir will still feed the system. You just need to keep the level up as you are bleeding.
|
can i just use power steering fluiud?????

I made a hose to bypass the steering actuators. Connected the line between the actuators and turned the steering wheel till all air was purged. That way the lines in the boat were good. Then hooked up the steering actuators.
Turned wheel till it locked out. Cracked the line and bled out the actuator like you do car brakes. Then checked and topped off fluid level next few times I took it out. |
