Engine Hatch Actuator Stuck
I'm curious if anyone has any experience with this or can point me in the right direction to fix it myself. I have a 29 Fountain Fever and the engine hatch is stuck closed. When I hit the switch for the hatch to open it just makes a low pitched clicking sound, it made the same sound when the hatch was completely open and you stayed on the switch. Anyhow, now it is stuck down and I've tried to manually lift it while someone is pressing the button and nothing.
In the back of the engine hatch I can remove the hinges and likely tilt the hatch from the back toward the front to get it open and detach it from the actuator, but I'm not sure if I should go about it that way or if anyone has any better ideas or input. Thanks :) |

Have some friends help you. Actuator is probably shot. They are not cheap but are needed

What brand is it? I forget what mine is, it was making horrible noise when I lowered the hatch. I was fortunate the manufacturer was local so I dropped it off with them to rebuild. It only cost me $75 to rebuild it and make it like new.
