Exhaust steam port side only
I was running the boat on the hose this morning and noticed steam from the port side only. Motor is 700 sci with CMI headers and just over 200 hours on the clock. Boat is mainly a freshwater boat but has been in salt a few times. I always flush and wash after being in the salt. Should I be worried? Should I investigate? If so, do I send the headers out to be pressure tested? Anything else to check?
Thanks for the help. Mark |
Being on the hose tends to cause this most often.
Next time you drop it in, just check again. There were check valves/balls before the thermostat in my 454 MAG that caused this issue as well. I ended up removing them entirely and no more steam Check the manifold heat as well to triple check. |
Thanks for the advice. Will check it out next time its in the lake.

as AWOL said,a garden hose cannot supply the sea pump with enough water, even at idle speed and you get hot spots in the exhaust.

Yup! When I flush the motor I disconnect my feed line and put the garden hose inside it and no issues. I need to install a flush kit......

Ran into a issue with a friends 525SC burning exhaust hoses on one side only, temp never got hot, but found crap in oil cooler screen and was the culprit..
