You could build something similar to the merc 420. You would need better exhaust like gils, stainless marine, or maybe 8.1 takeoffs. They come up used pretty often. Then bigger cam/springs and an 800 holley. 800 holleys are common used too.

Is the motor original? It may need a valve job, guide work etc. Shouldn't reuse old valve springs. Hows the bottom end?

The cam you listed is similar to stock. It's gonna take some money no matter how you look at it and can be a can of worms.

I'm actually having the heads checked now. The whole reason the motor is ripped apart is because of a stuck/bent valve.

That is a guaranteed fact.

I totally agree with that statement.

Gotcha, maybe look at a 420 clone then. Is your boat a 226 baja? You may see 5 mph increase over a stock 365. But more if it was tired to begin with.

I've got a HP500 800cfm blue carb.

Yeah it is a 88 baja 226 sport with a below swim platform exhaust. I don't know if that is a custom order or not. The worst part is the motor only had like 230 hours on it. So what would I have to do to make it a 420 clone?

Check your thread in gen Q&A. Very simple.

You have now entered perfect timing for the other disease....you know....'the while I'm there' disease.

Now is a good time to upgrade the springs and make sure all your retainer to guide and seal specs are good for high lift.

I have Napa machine shop doing all of that. Making sure the guides and seats are good, I told them to go thru the whole thing and let me know since a bent valve anyways.

Get the cam card off cranes site for Napa. You'll need closed [email protected] and 320 [email protected]. I've got many sets of new used springs from various take outs and will ck otherwise for if you end up needing some.
