Default Mercruiser GEN VI HR Lifters Debunked - From 7.4LX to 700SCI including 8.1/496's

All below is for GEN VI big blocks using the dog bone lifter / step nosed cam set up. Including the 8.1/496's.

Enjoy the savings. Enjoy where they come from and the differences if noted.

If any of below is wrong, please let us know. If anyone fuks their motor up because all I did was the catalog digging for all the below, well, you are a nimrod because you had the parts in your hand and you should of compared, That is my disclaimer. Ha !

================================================== =========

MCM/MIE 7.4L/LX (Gen VI) & 496 Mag/ 8.1 / 496 Mag HO
Merc# 850467
GM#17120060 and ACDelco #HL121

.================================================= ==========
MCM/MIE 454 Mag, 502 Mag & 8.2L (Gen VI) /
Merc# 850466T

Single Lifter: GM #17120061

Group of 16 kit: GM #12371056 ; Chevrolet Performance : This kit includes 16 of P/N 17120061 roller tappet, 8 of P/N 12551397 tappet guides, one of P/N 12551399 tappet guide retainer, and four of P/N 9440224 retainer bolts. For single service replacement use part numbers above.

Note: these lifters differ to the Merc#850467 (GM#17120060) listed 1st above in that they supply more oil to the valvetrain.

================================================== ===========

GEN VI Merc 500EFI / 525EFI / 565 EFI / 600 SCI / 662 SCI / 700 SCI

Merc# Merc #849947T01
Crane # 26535-16

These are the tall body HR lifters for large lift cams. Crane no longer makes / sells the #16535-16 we all used, including Mercruiser.in their blue motors with Crane HR camshafts.

It appears Crane wanted one lifter to cover these along with aftermarket replacement for the 496/8.1....so this # 26535-16 covers it.

I'd bet that's the same cam as the 169651 but with a 114 split..............talked with Crane and they still make the tall body lifter for the 500/525 but at around 800 bucks a set.......talked to a couple engine builders and their using the HL-121 or 17120060 for OE replacements.
