Need Ignition Switch Help - Fountain
 

I need a new ignition switch. Has anyone replaced one that can provide a part number?

I went to start 1 of my engines and the key spun 360* in the switch. I managed to get it started, but it needs to be replaced.

I've searched online, but don't see any that are the same. This is a 2002 Fountain Lightning. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

Looks like a common switch. Should be able to get one at any auto parts or boat store.

That's what I thought, but there seems to be two different sizes. 13/16" and 7/8" hole size. My panel doesn't seem to be either of those. Am I just being a moron?? LOL it's also not a round hole.

Do a search for Universal Ignition Switches. Tons of them on ebay that are made with the flat sides. How big is the hole for yours?

Did the whole switch spin? Those are notorious for coming loose. Usually you have to get the backing nut just right, use a rag with channel locks on the front.

No, the insides spun around in the housing - I'd guess the spring or detent on the inside broke. Key would just turn all the way around. I ended up ordering Sierra MP41030 Switch. Ir arrives today, so I'll know pretty quickly if I can boat this weekend or not.

I couldn't find any that indicated flats on both sides - but maybe my search terms weren't correct. Most did not indicate flats at all for that matter.

Happy to say that the Sierra MP41030 Switch fit properly on an '02 Fountain Lightning. It does have the double D shaft - he77 maybe they all do?.
