Replacing Drive Indicator Cable 07 38 Fountain Lightning
1 Attachment(s)
Looking for some pointers on replacing the starboard drive indicator cable on our Fountain. Is this a "33C" cable thru Livorsi and I need to find the length stamped on the original cable? Better to order thru Fountain? Any advice on installing new cable or removing old cable would be helpful.

You should be able to measure pretty closely with taking a few measurements. I would imagine your cables are 33c and purchase from cpperformance, Rex or whomever. Seems like I used teleflex. Reuse your cable ends. I would imagine your wanting to get new cable before removing old one so when it comes to removing old one you have to work cable back and forth before freeing up enough to to pull it out. Being above water and application I wouldn't think 5200 would have been used but you never know. If in doubt on overall length go a little longer. You can always lose the extra length somewhere in btwn.

To confirm its a 33c the cable ends will be 10/32 thread.

Number is on cable at one end in inches, will have number like 3372-003 THEN a number like 264 or 288 (which is length in inches) IF still red jacket morse. I just changed mine on my 33 scarab, bought teleflex replacements for 45$ each online, never found length on my port cable, starboard was 22 feet (264") and bought a 288" 24 foot for port side, worked fine. When you dissassble the helm end be careful to not let indical plungers and springs go flying, you can compress them and stick a paper clip or mig wire thru the little holes to kerp this from happening

The morse original cables only have the number on one end too, on mine that was the end outside near drives hence not being able to read one as it was UV faded and split

What internal springs and plunger? Not sure how his are but on my older fountain the springs were separate and on the outside. The other end I would put new rubber seals in but because I am paranoid about water I also filled with 4200. |
On my kiehafer merc racing indicators on dash there are spring loaded white plungers under the glass that wanted to fly apart when i dissassembled it
