351 Windsor engine swap into a Scarab

Hey guys I'm new to the forum this is actually my first post. I have an opportunity to get an 1987 21' Scarab sport but it's just the hull no motor or out drive. It had a mercruiser 350 with an alpha 1 Gen 1 out drive in it. I was wonder how hard it would be to drop a 351 Windsor out of my project truck into the boat?

It will be MUCH easier to find parts for a Chevy.
You will have to change a lot of parts to connect that FORD to the boat and outdrive.

Kinda what I figured but thought I'd ask the experts. I just had the motor rebuilt a few months ago and thought I couldn't swap some marine parts onto it. Any suggestions for places to find a good drop in crate engine?

Merc and omc did use ford motors so accessory mounts and bell housings, exausts are available but gm stuff is so much easier.
What kind of power are you looking for? A good running 350mag takeout may be a good budget option. Same with outdrive, or a new sei.

Nothing major I think the engine I got now is around 230. So a merc260 would probably be fine. I just plan on cruiser sebago lake and going up the locks with it.

TRue... the merc 188 was a 2bbl 302 hooked to a prealpha. Had 2 of them in my old nova 250. Rock solid although not the most powerfull motors, Its just the chevy stuff is sooo plentiful

On the outdrive, with the 3 year warranty and price, I would go with a new sei drive before a used alpha any day of the week. For 1300 you arent going to get a used alpha freshened up with new seapump, The sei in the alpha world is a no brainer. God I wish these guys would come out with a 2000 dollar bravo....

Make sure if the boat is worth it.

Good luck with the project.
