496 HO oil temperature sending unit
Where is the oil temperature sending unit on a 2003 496 mag ho ?
|
the oil pressure sender for all marine 496's is located on the top backside of the engine but down a bit in a lowered flange ---- screwed into a 45 degree fitting and another fitting reducer screwed into the block flange. Hope that all makes sense.
Later 496's the fittings themselves changed. and location was almost in the same place. Senders need to match the OHM's to the gauge for proper psi readings. |
Are you looking for oil pressure or oil temperature? There is no oil temperature sensor on a 496.
|
I seen that to so I just posted about the oil pressure sender as I thought he was talking about. Anyways if not someone else will want to know down the road about the oil pressure sender.
stock 496's do not have oil temp readings |
my stock 496s have them,,maybe Fountain adds them to the engines,,not sure
|
My 496 HO's have oil temp readings, both gauges and Smartcraft. So there are oil temp senders on the engine along with pressure sensors.
|
Not that my info comes from Raylar because I actually work on marine 496's across the board. Merc, Volvo, Indmar and so on since day one when they came about to market. . I tried to do a search on the this. " oil temp reading on a Merc 496" , basically this is what comes up. Link below to click on.
Read post number 3 in the link below.. Like I said STOCK apps do not come with oil temp senders or oil temp readings. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...mp-gauges.html |
Probably a Fountain thing....they also put water psi gauges on a lot of their boats.
|
Yes, it is a Fountain thing
