:lolhit:Haha. You guys

I doubt you will see any noticeable difference between the 731 with a 112 and 791 with a 114.
Neither will revert water with Gil exhaust with the longer wet tails.

I do think the 741 or 525EFI(741 with a 114) cam would make more power though and neither should revert water either.

Here some simulations I ran on the cams discussed here on a 496ci with dart 310 flow file. They don't make a 305. I know it's not as good of insight as the golden days of oso, but I'm trying .

Question i read yall all talk abt crane cams ...but what abt comp cams stuff ,,ive run their stuff hard in my jetboats for yrs and no issues ,,just asking is all

jdf4068 11-17-2017 06:31 PM

The 731 cam had better avg numbers

Midvalley 11-18-2017 02:08 PM

crane cams use the flow levels in the upper lift ranges where bigger heads seem to flow better (shorter duration higher lift) and a comp cam works better where the heads need dwell (longer duration lower lift) the reason jet boats work well is they are generally water injected exhaust and water flow is minimal until the upper rpm ranges and they also jump right to full RPM from a stand still and increase pump load as the boat accellerates, a prop loads just the opposite so that lower RPM loading causes a totally different exhaust resonance where overlap creates problems...

interesting Mild thunder... thats pretty telling in terms of just what the minor changes of LSA will do.. thats the answer i needed presented PERFECTLY i may start a thought to go clear up to the 741... being the numbers were still in that 5000-5500 RPM range...

i assume your figuing about a 9.5:1 basic typical 850 cfm setup with typical type exhaust restrictions

Sorry about that. I didn't catch the gen Vl in OT. Regardless I went from a 731 to 741 after wiping out a lobe in a single 28 saber many years ago and was a noticeable difference. Engine was a stock 502 with with some port work and a comp bump. Mine was the 112 lsa with wet Gil's and never an issue with reversion.
