Some info. I'd base your ruiteen maintenance around the same 50-70 hours. Case of beer on a decent day and done. Basically end of season.

what did 900's use for rocker/valvetrain? I thought they came with t&d's.

No, when I was reading about the SC900 it wasn't re-adjust the valvetrain at 65-70 hours it was REPLACE the valvetrain at 65-70 hours (springs and lifters). See the post from KWB in your above link. Mine is suggested at 150 hours. IMO that is a big difference, why? The 900 runs a smaller cam. There were guys that tried to push past that hour range, and regretted it. My engines have 180 hours on them and 1/3 of the exhaust lifters no longer roll smoothly. I've not torn apart the other engine to inspect that one.

When the engines were new Bob Teague maintained them, I'm not sure about how good the second owner was. Third owner pulled them, and now they are mine, and they are ready for a refresh. I'm going to talk to Dave at Wesco about the maintenance schedule, when I finally get the engines to him. When I spoke to him on the phone, he said he was good friends with Eickert and would get the scoop on them.

The SC900 was originally what I wanted to find a pair of, for my boat. However, when I read Merc suggested to replace springs and lifers every 50-60 hours, that was a bit much for me. I'm curious who on here actually ran that cam, and how far could they push it, as far as spring and lifter replacement.

I am looking forward to replacing the cams on my 900’s next winter. All the stories of broken springs and lifters make me nervous.

I've maintained a couple sets of them, even taking it easy, at 100 hours pull it apart and replace the lifters and springs.
