I see what you're sating and mine is wired that way. I noticed that I had the timing dial set to 5 rather than 0 (they're opposite each other and i Missed the arrow) This shouldn't matter once the 2D map is uploaded but I did change it to 0 anyway. I also had my plug wires bundled with tie wraps and just unbundled them. About to go float this thing and see what happens.

Very good discussion on the subject, worth the read.

Do we agree that the MSD and Daytona boxes use the same color coding and polarity? it just the box (which ever one) and the distributor wires (purple in particular) that don;t match up color for color?

I think as long as purple on box side, never goes to purple on distributor side, its all good.

I have my crank trigger set at 36, and my initial start timing at 16 with the idle stabilization set to put in 20deg at 750.. My actual idle speed in neutral is 800. It works very well for me this way. I didn't program any start retard in mine as it starts fine at 16. Keep in mind also that the key needs to be cycled off for at least 5 seconds after performing an upload.

Joe, did Dan say what cured his kickback? |

WIth 36* total, 16* initial and 20* stabilization, start retard almost seems irrelevant. With that said I wonder if I should just turn off start retard.

try turning off or lowering the start retard to 6 if you`re getting some kick back. I "think" that solved the issue for me... last weekend it did kickback a couple times after I raised the start retard to 10* .... theoratically should be the easiest on the starter but my engines don`t seem to like it.
but like Joe said it doesn`t seems to be really doing anything because at start up I still get 13.6* .. unless it`s something the log doesn`t show.. Secondly if you`re on the trailer (steep incline?) testing stuff I`d imagine the float level in the carbs will be off possibly dumping fuel into the carb. Happens to me when I`m big water flopping up and down |
