I am pretty sure that Mercury designed the cooling system so that all of the hose clamps are positioned in such a way that any need to lean over the front of the motor or reach around it, results in your clothing catching on all the hose clamps loose ends and bending upwards just to become sharp weapons. Usually more prone to happen on the clamps that have lost those rubber end protectors.

I sold my boat last Feb. so I didn't have to get it ready in the spring or winterize it now so both of my arms and hands are cut and scar free from hose clamp ends. I used to wonder if family members thought I was a cutter. ed

This is how we winterize our boat...I have shared the setup on here before.
Place sub pump in Rubbermaid container. Pump coolant to engine. Catch the exhaust coolant in same container. Rinse and repeat. Here is a picture.
