Favorite alternator?

My DB Electrical unit that’s one season old with about twenty hours on it crapped out nearly melted down the boat.

‘97 Mag MPI setup with the hot, ground, and small gauge wire. Two house batteries and another for starting. What’s the best setup here?

OSO FTW!

Within the one year warranty time?
I see that is what they advertise for most of their stuff.

One heck of a way to the knock the ecm out. I know cause I have 2 ecms in now to repair for the same exact failure. One app had a DB elecltric alternator that Voltage was too high and the other OEM alternator went bad as well. That one was over 15 years old but the DB alternator was almost 2 years old only..

I have API alternators and starters -- Let me know if any interest.

Not real sure if your asking one or more then one question.

Don't have a favorite ALT, have used Merc because they came with the motor. One time tried a one wire (100 amp), it worked fine, but removed because I just didn't need that much. Its been sitting on the shelf for some years now.

If your also asking about what to use to hook up ALT, and 2 banks of bats, that's easy enough, but just want to understand the question(s) first

Just looking for enough juice to charge all three batteries.

Are you trying to charge all 3 at once??? That will put quite a load on an alternator.

My Formula came with Start, House and Generator bats and the standard Merc ALT keeps them all changed

They make a voltage sensitive relay that will charge different banks of batteries. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4bba141302.jpg
