a1000 pump

ok sooo here's my question does anyone feel thar 1 single a1000 pump could support 2 500 efi engines with separate by pass regulators?

Tinkerer 10-17-2018 07:38 PM

I would have two separate smaller pumps for redundancy.
one pump fails you can still get home.

freekazoid 10-17-2018 07:40 PM

what pumps is everyone using for NA efi engine's?

Tinkerer 10-17-2018 08:22 PM

I believe that is the pump I am using for my 598.
But I am north of 800 HP

BBYSTWY 10-17-2018 08:26 PM

I have an extra a1000 that I plan on posting in the swap shop soon if you're interested....if they are stock 500 efi's I think that pump is way overkill...whats wrong with the stock setup??

jwurl 10-17-2018 09:12 PM

I am running an a1000 with a 713hp 540. I also ran it on my previous motor that was a 540 with 500efi injection. Does not really matter if the pump is too large if you are returning the extra fuel to the tank. Jeff wurl

they have cams in them. every one says ditch the cool fuel. and to be honest it gave me nothing but problems after i did the cam swap. not to mention there a pain in rhe azz to service.
do i REALLY need a Marine rated pump?
i was looking at the holley in line for half the cost as well.

BBYSTWY 10-18-2018 12:31 AM

Mine is not a marine pump for what its worth..I didn't run the a1000 because I didn't want to upsize all of my AN fittings that I already installed for the fuel system...plus I have 2 tanks 1 engine so a return style regulator would have been a nightmare...I'll look up the unit I'm running and post it for you...very nice relatively inexpensive product and it has a built in regulator that can be ran as a bypass or deadhead

That pump will not support EFI ^^^^^^^

BBYSTWY 10-18-2018 06:48 AM

Damn you’re right forgot all about that

ph1971 10-18-2018 11:40 AM

The 1000 pump is worth the extra money and the aero motive filters are sweet too. I like being able to jump the hot lead and fill the carb bowls when they have evaporated dry. Mine is wired on an oil pressure switched relay.

snapmorgan 10-18-2018 12:20 PM

I would pass on the Aeromotive and buy a Weldon 1100A. Twice the pump for the same money

ezstriper 10-19-2018 05:31 AM

quick answer...No

freekazoid 10-24-2018 07:46 PM

ok im going to go with 2 pumps i got a deal on 2. NOW my search is for the stock plug that is attached to the cool fuel pump. anyone one know if they sell the pump side plug? i would rather not cut my harness if i don't have to.

BBYSTWY 10-24-2018 08:21 PM

looks like it comes with the pump...can you cut and use the ones from your cool fuel setup?? just hook them to the aeromotives instead of the merc pump??

freekazoid 10-24-2018 08:35 PM

ugg i could but i don't want to there new pumps i was hoping to sell them maybe 25 hours on them.

BBYSTWY 10-24-2018 08:39 PM

oh I gtocha..maybe you could just sell the pump?? doesn't the harness have ring terminals that bolt to the pump or is the style that is made right into the pump??

If they bolt on...I'm sure anyone buying would be replacing one from the same setup and could use their harness??

Just a thought...

I'll see if we have any old cool fuel setups laying around I could nab one off of

freekazoid 10-24-2018 08:49 PM

the wires are hard wired into the pump. so i would almost need two pumps from some one that has 2 bad pumps laying around which is probably imposible since most normal people throw junk away. lol

BBYSTWY 10-24-2018 08:56 PM

lol

ezstriper 10-25-2018 07:42 AM

I would ditch the cool fuel and the looped fuel system, use a aeromotive return regulator, run a return to the tank, couple ways to do this, use diesel fuel senders that have fitting for a return, or the one that returns to the fuel filler hose. I ran a A1000 for 5 years setup like this on a procharged 509, both EFI and carb

BUP 10-25-2018 12:09 PM

many fuel pump companies are going with brushless pumps. I would look into them. Even Aeromotive has a --- A 1000 brushless and in their testing has seen many benys with the brushless design.

freekazoid 10-25-2018 08:06 PM

i am running a full aero system but i will be sending the unused fuel back to the filter heads as i have 3 tanks in my boat and back to the tank will not be feasible.
