cool fuel filters on 2002 6.2mx motor??

Just wondering where all the filters are that need to be replaced on 2002 6.2mx motor? I have been reading so much on changing these filters on the cool fuel due to flaking of paint from inside the unit. Where are the filters located that need to be replaced? And how many are there and if anyone knows part numbers that would help greatly as well.

you will need to give me engine serial number as I can help further with your questions. OSO Pm it if you like to.

year model of the hull means nothing for the engine side.

and if your app is totally OEM stock. Many up here with their engines are not stock apps so its best to ask first and foremost

The boat is currently in storage. I will go out there and grab that info in a couple weeks. Thanks for helping, I really wanna get this done along with clean fuel injectors!

Ok I will follow this thread and or you can always OSO Pm me from here. The 6.2 had different engines across the board from 1999 thru even currently. I am talking about Merc here NON LS versions. I know you DO NOT have 6.2 LS version because Merc did not use that platform period and still does not.

Thanks BUP !! Im looking mainly for location of filters and how many I will require? Also is there a way I can remove any remaining paint inside the unit to avoid future problems?

tech speaking your app can have 3 filters. One spin on in the heat insulator black plastic box unless someone already got rid of that exposing the spin on fuel filter. Then if your app as many did get the boost pump assembly kit after the fact ( inwhich many did) for vapor lock control -- there is metal canister fuel filter pre boost pump. Then the filter screen in the gen 2 cool fuel cooler - every so often the gen II cool fuel needs to be serviced / maintained.

Then all the internal filters the fuel injectors have and of course at some point in time the fuel injectors need servicing. Just like carbs do - need cleaning and rebuilding with new kits so does fuel injectors. BOTH are fuel delivery items at the end of the line that collect everything and cause engine issues. Plus injectors are an electrical item on top of a mechanical item for fuel delivery - so 2 fold for injectors that can go wrong. Carb just an mechanical item for fuel delivery.

should be a spin on under the alternator on the front of the motor
