Rebuilding stringers, floor, and transom

I’m considering a project boat. It will at least need new stringers and floor, possibly transom. Who has done this before and has some words of wisdom. What is a realistic cost and level of effort for a 23’ boat? I’m thinking Coosa for the transom, posssivle floor, and seacast or Nida for stringers. Any other materials to look at? Thanks for your suggestions.

Lots of threads in the Fiberglass and Paint Section. That's a whole lotta work for a 23' boat.

Unless I had a diamond in the rough priceless boat I'd find another project boat. Trust me....

You do not want to do a coosa transom.

What material would you recommend and why?

Plywood.

Find a 23' boat that doesn't need so much work. It will be cheaper than your project in the long run. I did my 28' hull for two reasons. It is a Cigarette Racing Team hull, and I am crazy!

3 layers of 1/2" marine ply laminated together. Coosa is great stuff when used in conjunction with its properties. As a stringer or bulkhead its great (with the exception of the motor mount area on the stringers)

For a transom, it does not like compression and shear.

I patched a huge section of my floor with no prior experience with fiberglass. Had a lot of people telling me i was in over my head but i did it anyways and it turned out great. theres plenty of youtube videos that gave me great advice and techniques. Coosa board is pretty easy to work with.
