Fountain Trim Tab Indicators & Username

Is there anyone out there that has changed trim tab indicator cables on a 2007 Fountain 35 Executioner, or similar boat? Along with changing their username, I now own a Fountain , as you can see it doesn't fit. Any help somebody can give me would be much appreciated, thank you

I’ve changed the indicator cables on my 35. Not staggered but the process should be the same. The length should be within 12inches from the end. Thus far it’s always been on the dash end for me.

Length is usually part of the part number stamped on the cables and is in inches.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info

I've got two cables for sale on Facebook. Not sure if they are the length you need. They are brand new. Bought them to install based on information directly from Fountain and they were not the right length. (ugh)

I actually have the new cables, I was wondering what the process was and complexity level of installing them. Whether or not I could hook thre old ones to the new ones and pull them through the holders kinda like pulling wire or how. I thank everyone for their responses, it's definately appreciated!!

I've been told you can do that - but as tight is the harness / cable bundle is, I'd be surprised. I wish you luck!

LOL, That was kind of my thoughts as well but since I've never done it before I thought I would ask around and see what I could find out. Well we'r will find out here in a bit when the weather gets a bit warmer. Again thanks to all

I had to repair some tabbing / harness tubing on mine last year - you can see in the picture how tight it is. My luck it would have gotten hung up on something. lol

Later, I had the boat at Big Thunder Marine for some maintenance work - I had them replace the trim and tab indicator cables.

Looks fun, UGHHH!! THANKS!!

I was able to pull mine through. Pull one at a time. Tape them tight with an angle to the leading tape edge to assist in fishing itself through. I wouldn’t try to pull through transom but it should work to the engine bay then just put cable through fitting to outside

Ive been going over it in my mind and didn't see how you could pull them through the transom but since I've never replaced these I wanted to ask some people that had done experiences with theirs. I've had several boats but this is my first over 30 ft and first with twins. I really appreciate everyone's input on this question, It's very nice to see this side of people, also very refreshing!!

Getting them through the transom to the tab should be no big deal and you should be able to just push them through.

Sounds logical, thanks

Another question on this one, weather finally broke enough to start this and I have the cables ran, not as hard as I thought it may be. Now the question for those of you that have done it. Is it a good idea to seal the cables where they go through the transom after the fitting on the trim tabs? I know that fitting had the grommet to seal around the cable jacket but should you also seal the hole with something like plumber's putty or something of that nature ?

Just installed new cables on my 47. Installed them with new fittings & grommets on the k planes. Didn't like the plastic ones that were original. Sealed the hole on the inside with a bit of 5200 so no water gets in when washing down the bilge.

Makes sense thank you
