Yes I measured them. It's definitely taller from pin to top of gear. Would my old gear work if it was on a roller can or do I need this special ****.. I'm so tired of fn with this engine. It's all brand new and close.

The gear you posted a pic of looks like a standard steel gear so the original gear should work. I would double check with Bob M

All i really meant by "chinese gear" is that sometimes you get a new part that is bad . A lower quality new part is more likely to have problems than a high end part . Do you know the brand of gear you were sent . Putting a gear on distributor is not rocket science.

I get that its not rocket science, Its pretty easy lol. My factory gear was fine and this one fit up against the distributor. I wasn't sure if there was a reason. I'm under the understanding that its a Comp Gear, I have had a few people tell me that i need to either drill a new hole or just remove a thousandth of the top or until it spins freely. That is what I'm going to do

UPDATE. Bob helped me sort it out. My Distributor is an odd-ball shaft size. Any gear that I put on it had the same problem. I shaved a hair off of it and it fit perfectly. Thanks RMbuilder for the help, and for persistently calling me to help me. What a stand up guy.
