Yep, the new gasket fixed it. Ran it again this morning and it idled right away for me. Thanks everyone for the help!

thanks for coming back and updating this thread! I'm having a similar issue, hopefully this solves it. at least gives me something to check

Appreciate the update on why you engine would die out. I've have a similar issue where my boat will start up fine but then stall out after a minute of so.
