That is his 2 cents.
Here's mine; Planetaries and the pumps in auto transmissions seem to do just fine for miles upon miles. Some failures I'm sure, but most seem to be of a hydraulic nature or seal issue.
Plus every transfer case since the mid eighties has been lubed with ATF basically.
Trim pumps probably run .05% compared to any vehicle trans or case.
So he'd have to show me a good sample to prove that.

For what it’s worth… I just had a Merc racing pump and 3A trim cylinders rebuilt by Matt at TNT marine drive shop. Matt’s been in the game a long time… he says Dex III
