525 EFI Maintenance

I saw several of these posts from the past, but want to confirm my list. I just bought my 29 fountain right before winter and got it home just before it started to freeze so I winterized it and put it in storage for the long winters nap. Knowing the old owner I would guess this boat has been maintained with an open check book for the most part. I would like to just do everything I can before next season to ensure it has been done maintenance wise. Then next winter I am going to pull the motor and get the top end refreshed.

What I have on my list so far is the following.

Oil
Oil Filter
Spark plugs
Fuel filter
Impeller
Drive oil

Is there anything else I should add to this list before I hit the water next season?

TIA

Is there typically an inline filter like this one on these engines? I only have known about the fuel/water filter.

You’re on borrowed time with 370 hours on the valve train. You just never know, some can make it 500 hours and other can’t make 200. I would also check the headers.

Pressure test the headers (CMI will do it and polish them up for a very fair cost), upgrade spark plug wires (factory wires are anemic at best), replace impeller AND housing minimum once a season (spend the $ now and get a Hardin stainless housing) its not about water pressure its keeping water flow as high as possible your headers depend on it, replace the small in line fuel filter that many forget about, change your mechanical fuel pump lube (uses drive lube) once a season at minimum, while your at it replace the mechanical fuel pump and keep 1 as a spare, have fuel injectors bench flow tested and rebuilt
525EFI is a great engine as long as they are maintained and updated along the way. Pull valve covers to take a look at all the valve train. Look for broken springs and walking rockers. Your at the hours where its a crap shoot on the top end.
Also pull your drive and have it inspected.
