TB IV's are very reliable and to change the timing curve, you just need change modules. |
Of course the MSD ready to run Marine distributor is a piece of crap. I bought 2. The saga continues.....

Thanks Jeff |
I’m running Delco distributors on my 509s. They throw advance really early so don’t let that throw you. Set the max timing and let the idle timing fall wherever.
I used them box-stock from my leftover MPI parts. Coil, distributor, and harness. |
Weak spark could be the coil or grounds. Thunderbolt ignition is pretty bulletproof.

I've had really good luck with DUI (davis unified ignition) replaced 2 rotted out MSDs with them and they worked perfectly

we are running the delco est on 540 ci 750+ hp top end timing is 32 degrees
