Evercoat gelcoat scratch patch

Anyone used this stuff? I filled a small crack on Sunday and it’s still not cured. I can make an indention with my nail if I push down hard enough. Instructions say to prep with acetone to clean and apply.

Debating on removing and buying some actual gel coat with hardener. Do I need to give it longer? Been 36 hours or so with nice 60-70* weather.

Thanks

I've used it a few times in the past, and from what you describe, it is cured as much as it is going to ever get...I had found that mixing a bit more hardener helped. It will get rock hard when it cures correctly.

This stuff didn’t come with a hardener, supposed to be an all in one deal. I may just try to sand it and see what happens. I’ll probably end up removing it and getting some different gel coat.

Appreciate the reply though at least confirms it should be cured by now.

I think that kit comes with a cellophane sheet that gets placed on the repair and keeps it isolated from air. It won’t dry without being covered. Pva is another option or waxpaper. If I am stating the obvious , disregard! 😀

I've used Spectrum paste for years for minor patching and it works well. It comes with a hardener you mix in. Never had an issue with it hardening in a reasonable amount of time.

yeah no hardener or cellophane with this kit. Instructions also do not reference such. Sounds like I’ll be removing this stuff and buying a decent product.
