engine mounts are the billet ones worth the extra cost
Question, since my engine is out, Im having the 502 freshened up, the transom assembly is now going to be a brand new Bravo HP unit and im replacing a stringer i dont want to b\put the original engine mounts back in.
The factory just lag bolted them to the stringer and well not one stringer was rotted to $hit because it was never sealed around the bolts. Im not going to cap the stringer with metal, side bolt the plate and the engine mount to the top of the plate but I was looking at the hardin marine billet mounts. https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-1353...ine-mount.aspx They also sell a kit to side mount the engine mounts but the cost I think is a little insane. https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-1045...unts-pair.aspx This is a lake boat the biggest chop this boat sees is the wake off another 201-5' boat max and my boat is a 25' Baja 252 so needless to say it wont get knocked around much lol. |
I used those mounts with over a 1000 hp in a 27 ft and never broke them, I made huge 1/2" alumnium L angle mounts and plates sandwiched on each side of my stringers fwiw, Smitty

Which mounts are you stating you used the stock replacements or the Hardin Marine ones?

I used ones from one of the aftermarket marine suppliers identical to what your asking about, not stock ones. I took the tiny angle L aluminum Baja used from factory off the stringers though and quadrupled the size with massive aluminum angles like you mentioned but from a local metal place just in case. The only thing Id say about them is take a air sander and grind the powder coating off the bottom where they mount to whatever you re-inforce the stringers with as mine moved around even tight under power as the powder coating kept them from "biting" as good, Smitty

I cant seem to find a pic of the bilge with the mounts BUT if you look at the OPs link in his first post, you will see the mounts (billet with post) and then picture putting 3" x 5" 1/2" thick aluminum L angle about 12" long down one stringer on each side with a similar sandwich plate on other side of the stringer
